Corryong - Day One

Finally, Monday morning had come around and it was the first day for entry and camping at the Corryong MFSRBF. We were camped at the side of Stock Route Road waiting to gain entry to the Festival campground. I got up about 6am. The entry gate was due to open at 8am but I was a bit unsure how things would play out. I had concerns about queue jumpers, ie, people coming from elsewhere and filling up the road before we could get in. The issue was that we wanted to get our preferred spot to camp on. Other people in the queue who had done this before said it would not be a problem and they were right. So when I got up there were not many RVs queuing at all. Those that did arrive just simply joined the end of the queue instead of driving to the gate. I don’t know why I was worried that they would. Anyway we relaxed and had breakfast and it was a beautiful morning.
The gate opened and in we went, albeit at a crawl as every vehicle had to be stopped and valid entry confirmed. A bit slow but pretty smooth all the same. We went to our preferred sites which were vacant and set up camp. We are to be here for seven nights. It was such a beautiful day. We have hit the weather just right here.
After set up I did a bit on the blog and read a bit. We took a walk up to town which is only 10 or 15 minutes. There was not a lot opened as it was Easter Monday but we only wanted some groceries anyway. We then went back to camp and relaxed, had lunch, read a book, had a shower etc.
Our neighbour is Kevin and is a nice old fella. I invited him to join us at our campfire. Our former neighbours on Stock Route Road, Paul & Liz, wound up being very close, only a few camp sites over. So we are chatting to them as well. We had a relaxed night and excellent dinner, always is with Linda cooking.
