Lake Mulwala

Thursday the 15th April Linda and I left Albury and headed for Lake Mulwala. Jan & Ross had to take their little dog Emily to the vet as she had a foot problem and a sore eye. We scouted on ahead to the NSW town of Corowa. It was a lovely town with old buildings and big awnings which was typical of the earlier days.
We bought some bread and the pies looked so good we had to have one. They were good but not great. When we arrived in town we saw a sign to Whisky & Chocolate Factory. So as far as Linda is concerned that was a must. It was really a slick operation there. It reminded me of the chocolate factory at Junee. They do chocolate and meals just like they do. As it turns out they are an affiliated business. Just like Junee the premises were old flour mills.
Jan and Ross had caught up to us by the time we were ready to leave. We all then headed off to Lake Mulwala. It was a nice drive on good roads. It ended up at the beaut Mulwala Reserve. We found a good spot. Let’s see if you agree with my assessment.
Ross and I had a walk that afternoon along the road which leads in and out of the reserve. We had a fire that night which was great. Another caravanner came into our zone and we made them feel welcome of course (some people don’t). The fellow, Mick, is a country music singer, not professionally. We had a bit of a chat to him. He was whinging he did not bring any bait to have a fish with. Linda had just finished pulling a chicken apart so we offered him the carcass which he gladly accepted and baited his hook. He wasn’t successful though. The next morning, Friday, we all had a walk as we were considering moving to a different camp spot in the reserve due to winds that had sprung up in the morning.
We decided to move on to a spot on the Murray at Yarrawonga. So with that decided we moved on with fond memories of Lake Mulwala.
